Watch: Boksburg residents express excitement after receiving Sassa grants
Over 2.6 million Sassa beneficiaries have accessed their social grants countrywide as of Saturday morning , April 1.
This follows weeks of uncertainty on whether or not Sassa beneficiaries would get their money in April.
Payments at ATMs and merchants were under way on Saturday.
In the early hours of April 3 Boksburg residents made their way to various Sassa pay points across Boksburg to collect their grant money.
Beneficiaries at the Reiger Park pay point (Civic Centre) expressed their excitement after receiving their money.
* Increases
The social grant increases were also effective as of Saturday.
The old age grant increased by R90 to R1 600 for pensioners over the age of 60, and R1 620 for those over 75.
The disability and care dependency grants also increased by R90 to R1 600 a month.
Foster care grants increased by R30 to R920 a month.
The child support grant increased by R20 to R380 a month.
