The devastated parents, Nombeko Thole and Meshack Mohlala, shared their feelings with the Advertiser.
Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina addressed the angry crowd earlier, saying the metro will do all in its power to retrieve the child.
Mine Rescue is about to resume search for the child.
