Double murder accused pleads guilty

Zama Mankhala pleaded guilty to the murder of an elderly couple in their house in Frazer Street, Comet, in September 2015.

The couple was stabbed to death.

During the house robbery and murder, their Honda Jazz was taken.

After investigation by Det-WO Vusi Tlemo from Boksburg North SAPS, three suspects were arrested.

They appeared in the High Court, where accused number one (Mankhala) pleaded guilty.

He was sentenced to the first count of murder to 25 years imprisonment, second count of murder to 25 years imprisonment, and for the house robbery to 10 years imprisonment.

The other two accused are still to stand trial.

“Due to the thorough investigation by the detective, we could secure the suspect behind bars and out of the community,” said Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer.

The trial for the other two, who pleased not-guilty, continues.
