• Hijacking foiled
The complainant arrived back home after shopping when an unknown male appeared next to the driver’s door inside the garage, on January 30, around 4pm.
“He pointed a firearm at her and instructed her to switch off the engine,” said Coetzer.
The complainant refused to do so and started blowing the hooter instead.
“Her husband came out of the house. The next moment, two other suspects grabbed him,” added Coetzer.
The complainant kept on hooting until her neighbours came outside to assist them.
“The suspect, who was standing at the complainant’s door, fired a shot through the window and injured her hand.”
The suspects fled the scene.
• Shop manager nabbed
A clothing shop manager has been arrested and now faces a charge of possession of stolen property.
On January 2, the manager opened the clothing shop in Bental Avenue, Jansen Park, when he allegedly noticed that there had been a burglary.
According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer Capt Juanita Coetzer, the perpetrators allegedly entered the shop through the roof.
On January 29, at 11am, Det-Sgt Gina Koko was contacted telephonically by an informer.
“He told her that the manager of the clothing shop contacted him and said that he has clothing and that the informer should organise him buyers,” said Coetzer.
Sgt Koko immediately departed to Southgate Mall and set herself up and waited.
“At about 3pm the manager of the shop arrived and handed the informer the clothing,” Coetzer explained.
Sgt Koko arrested the suspect and confiscated the clothing.
The owner of the clothing shop identified the clothing as his property.
• Video footage leads to arrest of suspects
Two suspects have been arrested for theft out of motor vehicle on January 24.
A truck driver parked his truck in Main Street, Witfield, around 8.30am, to buy something at a shop.
According to Coetzer, when he arrived back at his truck, he noticed that the window of the truck had been forced down and that his gas canister and cooker, as well as a bag with documents, were missing.
“There is a video camera inside the truck, which captured the suspects’ faces and their clothing clearly,” said Coetzer.
“The truck driver drove around and found the suspects along the road and apprehended them.”
The two males were then arrested by Boksburg North SAPS.
