Trio nabbed for drugs, gun and stolen vehicle

Boksburg police officers and the EMPD made a major breakthrough on Monday afternoon, when they caught three suspected drug dealers driving in a stolen vehicle fitted with cloned plates.

The trio, described as a 20-year-old coloured woman, a white man and a Nigerian national (both aged 41), were also found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and drugs – and what appeared to be a rhino horn.

Further investigation however, revealed that the horn perceived to be that of a rhino, is in fact a buffalo horn.

The officers were carrying out a stop and search on Main Reef Road, a few meters away from the intersection with Pretoria Road, when they pulled the suspects’ silver Polo Vivo over.

One of the occupants of the car, the 20-year-old woman, was reportedly visible shaking with fear as she got out of the car, arousing the officers’ suspicions.

Upon searching the trio, they found the illegal items and subsequently discovered that the car was reported stolen from Uitenhage, in the Eastern Cape.

The suspects were immediately arrested and charged with possession of drugs, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, plus possession of a stolen vehicle.

They will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon. -@FanieFLK
