• Conspiracy to murder and attempted murder
Two women have been arrested for conspiracy to murder and attempted murder after the one woman paid a hitman to kill her ex-husband.
The complainant received a call from a woman who was known to him, on November 22.
She asked to meet with him at a mall and upon arrival, he found her there with another woman and a child.
According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, the woman who had phoned the complainant gave him an undisclosed amount of money and requested him to kill her ex-husband.
“The reason being that she and her ex-husband were recently in court with a custody battle and it looked like she was going to lose the battle,” Coetzer said.
After the complainant had another meeting with the women, he went to the ex-husband to inform him of what was happening.
The ex-husband requested him to help him with opening the case and testifying for him. A case was opened and the two women were arrested and detained at Boksburg North SAPS.
The two women appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on November 28.
The case has been postponed to December 5. They were not released but kept in detention.
• Possession of housebreaking/vehicle breaking equipment
Boksburg North SAPS members were patrolling in the Boksburg North area, close to Cason Road, which is known for housebreaking and theft out of and of motor vehicles, on November 21, at 6pm.
They noticed a man standing next to a vehicle and stopped and searched the suspicious person.
According to Coetzer, the members found a sharpened Allen key, gloves and a remote control in his possession.
“The remote control is usually used for jamming the locks of a vehicle and the suspect could not explain his presence there, or the reason for possessing these items,” Coetzer said.
He was arrested and detained at Boksburg North SAPS.
• Arrested for perjury
The complainant was driving on his way to deposit money for a company when he was allegedly hijacked of the vehicle and the cash, on November 23.
He opened a case of hijacking at the Boksburg North SAPS.
At the station, the complainant was questioned by an officer. The officer went with him to the crime scene where they found a pamphlet distributor (witness).
“The witness said he could recall the complainant stopping and picking up two other males and driving off,” said Coetzer.
The officer and complainant then went to a nearby petrol garage to view the video footage.
“On the video footage, the officer pointed out that there was no sign of violence or a firearm while they (the complainant and the two men) were there,” said Coetzer.
“The complainant admitted that he had not been hijacked and that he had opened a false case.”
The complainant was arrested on a case of perjury.
