The police crime reports show an overwhelming trend of cars stolen while they are parked at the hospital.
The lot has been one of the precinct’s top havens for car thieves to steal vehicles for years now.
According to the police report, three Volkswagen Polo Vivo cars were reportedly stolen from the lot on Monday, November 14 alone, between 7am and 7.30pm.
A car was stolen from the same spot a week ago, while another car was stolen the week before last week.
The police believe that the thefts are largely due to a ring run by organised crime targeting old- and new-model cars.
To tackle the problem, police have implemented several crime prevention initiatives involving a partnership with the car guards, but criminals persist in targeting the hospital visitors’ vehicles.
Many people headed to the hospital buildings to see their sick relatives and friends have no choice but to park their cars in this hot-spot.
The Boksburg police have also reported a troubling trend of smash-and-grab robberies and theft from motor vehicle across the precinct.
They are urging motorists to be always on high alert, especially now that we are approaching the festive season.
Police recommend not leaving your car unattended for too long and that you never leave valuables inside.
The best way to protect your belongings is to lock them in the boot of your car whenever you are driving or leaving the car unattended. -@FanieFLK
