Search continues for abducted, gang-raped girl

It’s been almost two weeks since the 18-year-old Angelo informal settlement girl who was reportedly dragged out of her home and gang-raped vanished without a trace.

A search has been going on for the girl ever since, to no avail.

The police, along with DRD Gold, E-Track and community members started the massive search for the teenager on Sunday, September 25, after it was reported that she had been abducted, gang-raped and thrown down a nearby disused mine shaft.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, attempts to establish her whereabouts have, so far, been unsuccessful.

Day 11 (October 6) in the search for the teenager ended like the others – with no clues that the girl was close to being found.

However, police and community members have not given up hope and they continue to search for her.

It is believed that the girl was abducted by a group of BaSotho men.

Three suspected BaSotho men, aged between 22 and 28, have been arrested and taken into custody following the heart-rending incident.

The teenager was asleep in her shack when her abductors reportedly arrived in the early hours and smashed the windows to get into the shack, in the informal settlement.

The suspects allegedly told the police that they dragged the defenceless girl to a nearby location, where they took turns raping her, before throwing her down a nearby disused mine shaft.

Police vowed that they will not stop their search and will continue to do all they can to locate the victim.

They are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. -@FanieFLK
