Cycling club funds Hospice East Rand with R70 000

The Sunward Slipstream Cycling Club raised a staggering R70 000 from only two fund-raising events for Hospice East Rand.

The club hosted a social mountain bike ride on Saturday, September 3, and a road ride the following day, September 4.

Participants had to pay to join in on the rides.

For the past three years, the Sunward Slipstream Cycling Club has held a Potjie Cook Out, where 10 of its cyclists take up the challenge to cook the best potjie.

Each pot of food is donated by the cooks and needs to feed at least 10 guests.

The cook out was held in the back garden of a club member’s house and took place on September 10.

“We would like to thank each and every one for their generosity towards this worthy cause and look forward to a bigger and better event next year,” said Carol-Lee Burns, from Sunward Slipstream Cycling Club.
