The EMPD raided a house in Olympus Road, Impala Park, and arrested two men found in possession of firearms and drugs.
EMPD Media Liaison Officer Lieut Kobeli Mokheseng said EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members acted on a tip- off when they nabbed the pair at around 1pm, on September 29.
“The metro police raided the house and a 45-year-old male tenant, who was once arrested for drug dealing by the same team, was found with an unlicensed .22 rifle, a baby brown revolver, four cellphones, three small scales, 25 live rounds, eight ziplocks of CAT and 92 ziplocks of dagga to the value of R30 000,” said Mokheseng.
He said officers also searched a 23-year-old man who was with him in the house and found dagga on him..
“While registering charges of possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition and dealing in illicit substances against the 45-year old suspect at Boksburg North Police Station, it emerged that the suspect was previously arrested for possession and dealing in drugs and he received a suspended sentence in court,” Mokheseng said.
Both suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
