Game’s competition puts loved pets in the limelight

The spotlight this past weekend was shining on all Boksburg pets, during the Game pet competition, on September 17.

Walking the red carpet at East Rand Mall Game parking lot were 30 entrants including cats, dogs, snakes and spiders.

The competition celebrated the unique talent of the furry, scaly and feathered animals in people’s lives.

The competition had four categories which included pet lookalike, most unusual pet, pet got talent and the cutest dog or cutest cat.

All the winners walked away with R1 000 vouchers to shop at Game.

Sharon Holmes with her tarantula won in the most unusual pet category.

“I am very ecstatic about winning this competition. This competition is a great way to bond with our pets by working as a team.

“With the voucher I got I am going to buy something for the tarantula. Most of the people are scared of tarantulas but they are well behaved. I have 24 more tarantulas at home,” Holmes said.

Micheline Marmel and her dog won in the pet lookalike category.

Lukin Day with his dog Aranka won in the pet got talent category where Aranka had to sniff around the stage looking for nuts.

Eldorette Boone with her dog Brutus won in the cutest dog category.

Game marketing manager, Elizabeth Ric Hansen, said the aim of the competition was to reward animal lovers with the vouchers to spoil themselves.

“It is the first time hosting this competition and we are looking forward to hosting another one next year. During this competition we were also raising funds for the Boksburg SPCA,” Hansen said.
