This is according to Jaco du Toit, from Impala Park, who said that, about two years ago, Ekurhuleni contractors installed a plastic water meter at his property.
However, he added, the meter has been leaking since its installation.
Back then, du Toit apparently used to report the leakage on a monthly basis.
He told the Advertiser that he still contacts the call centre regularly, but doesn’t get any assistance from their side.
“The worst is, there is no water in the country. Water restrictions have just been implemented,” said du Toit.
“They [Ekurhuleni] must repair the pipe.”
According to du Toit, the wet patch is so deep that he can stand with his feet in it.
He added that the water is filtering through the ground from beneath the precast wall to the inside of his property.
The Advertiser is still awaiting a response from the metro.
