Thugs prove no one or no place is immune to crime
Even a well-guarded municipal workshop in Boksburg is not immune to criminals.
This is after criminals on September 18 proved that no one is immune to robbery, when they held security guards at gunpoint at the workshop premises (Trichards Road, Cason), stealing an estimated R190 000 worth of truck wheels and tyres.
According to Boksbrug SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, three men, two of them carrying firearms, broke the guard room window to gain entry to the property, before they threatened the security guards with the firearms and tied them up.
They then proceeded to the yard and removed more than 18 wheels from the trucks parked on the premises.
The thugs then loaded the stolen tyres into the back of their truck and drove away.
No one was injured in the robbery and no shots were fired.
* Burglaries, business and house robberies happen almost every day in Boksburg.
Among the victims are mostly the homes located in the suburbs and businesses, including government properties.
Police are investigating a business robbery case and investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the Boksbug crime office on 011 841 6843.
In another crime story, on September 20, a gunman entered a shack in Angelo informal settlement and opened fire on one of the occupants of the shack. The victim was rushed to hospital with two bullet wounds in the left thigh and hand.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear.
Meanwhile detectives are hunting a rapist, described as a Sotho-speaking man, after a young woman was dragged off the street and raped in the bushes near Angelo informal settlement, on September 19.
According to Maseko, the woman was walking along Main Reef Road with her friend when the man grabbed the victim and fired one shot into the sky.
The victim’s frightened friend ran to the nearby filling station where they sought help to rescue their friend from the attacker.
In the meantime, the gunman dragged the victim to the nearby bush where he raped her.
The police were called and began searching for the victim and the gunman in the bushes.
After a while, the police along with the victim’s friend spotted the pair in the bushes, but the suspect ran away when he noticed the approaching police.
The victim reportedly burst into tears and revealed that the gunman has raped her. -@FanieFLK
