EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago said a clarion call by the authorities and other stakeholders for learners to desist from carrying dangerous weapons, using drugs and forming cliques that could easily transform into gangsterism seem to be gradually producing the desired results as less and less of the unacceptable conduct is becoming evident.

“The authorities were impressed with learners of both schools as no drugs, dangerous weapons or even cigarettes were found on the persons of the learners and in all other possible places where small items could be hidden within the classrooms and the school yards.
“Although nothing sinister was found at both schools, representatives from the Social Development gave the learners a pep talk on the dangers of drug abuse and how not to get hooked.
“SAPS added to the discourse by explaining the legal implications and dire repercussions of indulging in unacceptable conduct at school and beyond the school borders,” said Kgasago.
