Crime in brief: Thieves steal house goods worth R27 000

The following cases were reported to the Boksburg SAPS:

Burglary

Thieves forced their way into a Parkdene home, on Venter Street, and ransacked the house, on September 3.

Goods stolen during the break-in include electrical appliances and clothing, worth about R27 000.

The incident followed a similar burglary in Sunward the previous day, where thugs forced their way into a residential property and stole goods worth about R7 000.

Gangs have targeted electrical appliances, jewellery, cash and cars in break-ins and carjackings in Boksburg in recent months.

With the aim of beating the criminals who are a menace to everyone, Boksburg police have recently established a specialist task team to deal with house robberies and break-ins, the area.

Robbery

A Delmore man was reportedly robbed at knifepoint and gunpoint by two armed passengers while travelling in a taxi from Delmore to Boksburg, on September 1.

The man got on the taxi and found three men he thought were passengers and the driver.

While en route to Boksburg, one of the men seated next to him took out a firearm with another man taking out a knife.

They both threatened the victim and demanded money. They subsequently took the victim’s hard earned R1 700.

The taxi then drove to Plantation, where the victim was then dumped.

Nobody was wounded in the incident.

Theft of motor vehicle

A man told the police that his car was stolen from the parking lot outside the Boksburg Civic Centre, on September 2.

The complainant parked the car at about 6pm and went to a meeting. When he came back the car was nowhere to be found.

Theft from a motor vehicle

On September 1, thieves broke into a car parked in a residential area in Freeway Park, and stole the car radio.

Another theft from a vehicle occurred at the intersection of Commissioner Street and Van Dyk Road, on September 1.

The complainant, a woman, told the police that she was waiting for the traffic light to turn green when someone smashed the passenger window of her car and grabbed her cellphone.

At the time of going to print no arrests were made and police are still investigating these cases.
