Boksburg Advertiser, Ford Consolidated Motors, Steyn donate 250 blankets to the needy

Along with local celebrity Gerhard Steyn, the Advertiser and Ford Consolidated Motors recently staged a blanket drive during which hundreds of blankets and beanies were collected for the needy.

On August 31, Ford, along with Steyn, visited New Beginnings Care Centre and the Reiger Park-based sanctuary, Green Door, to donate 250 blankets and beanies.

The blankets and beanies was distributed evenly.

Before the Advertiser came on board to assist with the blanket drive, Ford Consolidated Motors had, for some time, been running an internal charity project where, with the help of a R50 donation from the public, these blue blankets and beanies could be purchased to be distributed for those who need such items desperately.

The Advertiser and Steyn then joined the initiative, with an invitation to the community to either make a monetary donation, to hand in any blanket or beanie to the dealer directly.

It is envisioned for this to become an annual joint partnership, with next year’s campaign kicking off before the winter rolls around.
