His ward consists of Parkrand, Parkdene, Farrar Park, Cinderella, Libradene, Boksburg South, Boksburg East, the Boksburg CBD, Cason, Anderbolt and Plantation.
De Vos said his main priorities would be seeing to it that people in his ward receive uninterrupted services.
The new councillor vowed that he would take steps to ensure that job opportunities are created for the desperately unemployed people in the ward, and that municipal infrastructure such as the roads, sewage systems, water pipes, street lights and electricity grids are properly maintained and repaired.
Furthermore, de Vos fulminated against ”lazy” municipal workers, who spend most of their working hours doing nothing, while others sleep under trees.
He said his office would liaise with the relevant municipal departments to ensure that the parks are properly maintained, long grass is mown and trees are trimmed often.
His list of priorities during his tenure includes seeing to it that the Boksburg Lake and the CBD are restored to their former glory, to attract more investors, thereby making the city a year-round preferred tourist destination.
De >Vos added that, despite all the doom and gloom in the city, there are still some bright spots in the municipality.
He put his hands together for the refuse collection teams, saying the garbage collectors are always hard at work as they go through the neighbourhoods to pick up waste.
De Vos was born and bred in Willowmore, in the Eastern Cape, and relocated to Boksburg more than 14 years ago. He owns a house in Boksburg South where he lives with his partner and their three children.
With a higher diploma in education, he has extensive experience as a secondary school teacher, and is also armed with an Honours Degrees in Public Administration. -@FanieFLK
