EG Jansen pupil excels internationally with East Rand Youth Choir

Bernice Swartz, from Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen, participated with the East Rand Youth Choir in two international competitions during July which received numerous gold as well as category and overall winning status. The competitions took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Budapest, Hungary.

Results were as follows:

Laurea Mundi Budapest International Choir Competition

(All the points are out of 30)

* Category Youth Choir Mixed Voices: 22.46 points

Gold Diploma – level 2

Awarded category winners

* Category Gospel/Spiritual: 23.20 points

Gold Diploma – level 3

* Category Folklore: 26.68 points

The choir scored the highest mark throughout the whole competition.

Braislava International Choir Competition

The choir was awarded three Gold medals (90 per cent plus) and announced category winners for all three their categories (Youth Choir Mixed Voices, Gospel/Spiritual and  Folklore).
