Two arrested with counterfeit goods valued at R240 000

Two men were arrested for the possession of counterfeit goods valued at R240 000, on July 15.

The operation, comprised of EMPD and Peace Corps members, SAPS officers and South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT), was held at Dunswart Station at 4.30pm.

“Two people were found in possession of more than 1 000 counterfeit DVDs valued at R240 000, and were arrested,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago.

One of the suspects, aged 30, was found to have had a previous conviction for the same offence recently and his sentence suspended for five years.

The second man is a 19 years old.

Both suspects were detained at the Boksburg Central Police Station, on charges of selling counterfeit goods.

They were expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on July 18.
