Stolen car recovered at Boksburg dealership, salesman nabbed

The EMPD arrested a local car salesman after a stolen car was recovered at the dealership he works for.

EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago said three more vehicles suspected of being stolen vehicles were detected at the same dealership and investigations are underway to verify their status.

Kgasago said the EMPD officers were on patrol in Boksburg North on July 7 at around 4.30pm when they picked up a signal of a stolen Hyundai i20.

The car, a red Hyundai i20 stolen in Boksburg North earlier this month, was tracked down to a car dealership.

Kgasago said a 31-year-old salesperson was arrested and detained at Boksburg North police station after being charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The suspect was expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 9.
