Armed robbers sentenced to 20 year imprisonment

Two men were each sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for armed robbery, when they appeared in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court, on June 27.

Last year, on February 15, the complainant sat down to eat in Goodman Street, Beyers Park.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, Kurt Golliath (26) and Boetie Christopher Malgas (25) approached him and asked if they could eat with him, as they did not have any money for food.

“The complainant gave them food and, as they finished eating, they pointed a knife at him and demanded his cellphone or they would stab him,” said Coetzer.

“They grabbed his phone and ran away.”

After receiving further information the detective arrested the two suspects.

Det WO Vusi Tlemo, of the Boksburg North Detective Branch, initiated the investigation.
