Mall of Africa continues to be plagued by violence

Two people were shot and killed near one of the entrances of the Mall of Africa in Midrand on Sunday (July 3).

It is believed that the shooting was initiated by taxi violence in the area.

The victims were reportedly approached by suspects in a white VW Polo that asked for directions. The suspects then fatally shot the two men.

The suspects are still at large.

Yesterday’s attack follows a prior shooting earlier this year. In May, three people were injured in a shooting in what is believed to be a feud between rival taxi associations.

An eye witness reportedly said the cause of the violence are disputes with regards to the registration of designated routes.

Four men were arrested in connection with this shooting.

The shopping centre opened its doors only three months ago.
