Two injured as police car crashes into house

Two women were injured when a Boksburg North police vehicle crashed into a house on June 7.

An eye-witness told the Advertiser that a police car ”hit and injured two pedestrians” in Madeley Road, Hughes.

Boksburg North police spokesperson Capt Juanita Coetzer said it all started when the officers allegedly saw a suspicious-looking person with a firearm.

The person, who was on foot, ran away and the police gave chase in a car on the gravel road.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a house on one of the plots in the street.

Coetzer said two women were sitting in front of the house when the car crashed into it, and both sustained minor injuries.

They were taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The house was badly damaged.

Coetzer said officials from the EMS were contacted to examine the structural damage and will update the public when new information becomes available.
