Police nail fake officers who terrorised Boksburg community

Community members came out in their numbers to witness the arrest of two men who have been masquerading as police officers.

The two fake officers who have been terrorising the community for a while now were cornered and arrested on May 27, in the Ramaphosa area.

Both Reiger Park police spokesperson W/O Mashudu Phathela and Boksburg North police spokesperson Lieut Juanita Coetzer, confirmed the incident.

They said police received information from community members about two people who have been terrorising the community of Ramaphosa and Reiger Park.

Fake cops robbery: Stolen firearms found at police station 

The police acted on the tip-off and stopped the vehicle used by suspects after spotting it in the Ramaphosa area.

“The suspects identified themselves as police officers from organised crime and produced appointment certificates.

“But police immediately spotted that the certificates were not real and arrested the two,” said Phathela and Coetzer.

Upon searching the suspects and their vehicle, a black Toyota Yaris, police found and seized 2 x pistols (toy-guns), 4 x cell phones, 1 x plastic bag of dagga, 1 x two-way radio and cash.

The suspects, aged 36 and 43, will be charged with impersonating police officers, possession of suspected stolen goods and possession of dagga.
