Man shot dead while fleeing attacker
A man was gunned down in an Angelo informal settlement street, while running away from a gunman, on Sunday night, May 1.
The information obtained by the police is that the man, whose name has not been released, was shot while fleeing.
Paramedics certified him dead on the scene.
A case of murder was registered, and no arrest has been made so far.
Concerned community members, have during a recent public meeting raised their concerns about the ongoing killings of people in the community.
The area has recently had a spike in homicide, and the man’s shooting follows a handful of other brutal killings, whereby people are shot dead or stabbed to death, mostly on weekends.
The main contributing factors are believed to be the said illegal mining turf war, substance abuse and illegal shebeens.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the recent killings to contact the Boksburg crime office on 011 841 6843.
