Electricity transformers stolen fortnightly -disgruntled resident

It seems as if electricity transformers in Mapleton are stolen once a fortnight.

This is according to a source who has been residing in this area for the past 42 years. The complainant also runs a dog hotel in Mapleton.

“It should cost the metro thousands to replace the transformers on a regular basis,” she said.

“I think this theft is an inside job.”

According to the complainant, this crime is getting out of hand, as she has to run a generator more often than not.

“I have a business to run, but the diesel for the generator is costing me a lot,” she added.

“Why don’t the metro appoint a security guard at the sub station?”

Apart from the electricity transformers being stolen quite often, there are also other issues the complainant has experienced in Mapleton.

She said that the water meter has been stolen since she moved onto her new property four years ago, and has still not been replaced.

Also, each month she pays for refuse removal services, but does not receive the service.

The Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the metro on the above complaints.
