Boksburg SAPS report fairly quiet long weekend

The Easter long weekend was a fairly quiet weekend for the Boksburg SAPS.

Reports revealed that no crime out of the ordinary during the four-day long weekend occurred.

“Apart from a few incidents, this Easter weekend was fairly calm in terms of criminal activity, as our officers didn’t see much unusual activity.

“I think the main reasons are that a lot of people went out of Boksburg during the holidays, and the increased patrol over the holiday weekend did improve visibility,” said Boksburg SAPS’ Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese.

Officers did manage to arrest 18 suspects for various criminal offences, including theft, possession of illegal substances, assault and drunk driving.

Ngobese has, however, admitted that the ongoing illegal mining involving foreign nationals continues to be problematic.

“Those fighting over the illegal mining rights have rendered areas in the vicinity of their activity unsafe, as they allegedly frequently fight among themselves for the goldfields, putting residents’ lives at risk.” -@FanieFLK
