Man shot in hand, robbed of R60 000

The man who was shot in the hand during an incident that took place on Rondebult Road on March 22 was robbed of R60 000 in cash.

 

The victim, said to be a taxi owner, was driving on the N17 highway from Germiston when he took the Rondebult off-ramp.

Soon after, four men in a black Golf forced him to stop.

Boksburg police spokesman Lieut Kwenzakwakhe Ngobese said the man was shot in the hand and R60 000 in cash was taken from him.

He was rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

The EMPD received a tip-off and reacted to the incident and upon arriving, shot at the robbers who fled the scene in their black Golf.

“They were chased towards Germiston, where they abandoned the car and fled on foot. The money has not been recovered and the hunt is still on for the suspects,” said Ngobese.

Several reports received soon after the incident stated that one of the robbers was shot dead.

However, Ngobese, later confirmed that no one had died, although the EMPD suspect that they might have injured some of the suspects.
