Woman (45) nabbed for dealing in Mandrax

A 45-year-old woman is among the three people who were arrested for possession of drugs on March 11.

The arrests followed a week-long surveillance of suspected drug dealers in Reiger Park.

EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago said the woman was found in possession of 49 Mandrax tablets worth R4 900.

More than R4 000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug sales, was also confiscated.

“Within minutes of this arrest, the EMPD Crime Prevention Task Team members nabbed two males, aged 25 and 28, when they were found in possession of cat valued at R5 000.

“An amount of R4 270, believed to be proceeds of dealing in drugs, was also confiscated from these two suspects,” said Kgasago.

Charges of possession and suspected dealing in illicit substances were registered against the three at the Reiger Park Police Station.

The three were due to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Monday, March 14.
