Fire fighters, paramedics and police officers responded to a drowning incident at the lake just before 4pm.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesman William Ntladi said the man was sitting with his friends under the tree at the lake when the incident occurred.
The exact details leading to the incident are not yet known.
Ntladi said that specialised rescue divers were called to the scene and immediately retrieved the man from the water.
“Unfortunately he was declared dead on scene by paramedics,” said Ntladi.
An inquest docket has been opened.
