Entries for metro’s creative writing workshop now open

It is said that a pen is mightier than a sword, hence the Ekurhuleni Metro seeks to sharpen its citizens' writing skills through a Creative Writing Workshop.

Dates for the workshop are still being finalised, but, the metro has called for potential applicants to forward their names by 4.30pm on Friday, March 4.

A total of 40 writers will be accepted into the programme and will be tutored on writing blogs and how to package, publish and market their literary works on various platforms including the web.

“Through this workshop, the metro aims to afford those who are passionate writers the opportunity to hone their skills, free of charge, so that they may be catapulted to the next level of their journey as creatives,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The outcome of the project will include the production of an anthology of 10 short stories written by the top 10 best performing candidates.

Application forms for the Creative Writing Workshop are available at and must be submitted at any of the Ekurhuleni Libraries, during library operating hours.

Preference will be given to registered Ekurhuleni Library members.

Membership is free of charge to all residents of Ekurhuleni.
