Ekurhuleni cracks down on illegal posters

The EMPD removed more than 180 illegal posters and adverts in Kempton Park, Benoni and Boksburg last week.

The metro said on its facebook page that the unwelcome eyesore of illegal posters and adverts polluting Ekurhuleni were tackled in a joint operation comprising of EMPD, JMPD, TMPD and Mogale City By-Laws Units.

The special operation commenced at 8.30am and ended at 2.30pm on February 24.

A total of 186 illegal posters and adverts were removed while mobile (trailer) adverts as well as motor dealers displaying vehicles beyond their premises were fined and given written warnings.

“Businesses are urged to ensure that they apply from Council for stickers to be put on their adverts to avoid removal as they would be illegal.

Indiscriminately placing adverts on traffic lights, lampposts and those pinned into the ground at intersections will have expensive repercussions.”

Trailers with adverts are placed at intersections without Council approval.
