Groeneweide resident André van Staden witnessed three men in a bakkie forcing open the doors of a meter box by breaking the locks.
From his knowledge, it is clear that the one of the meters has been bypassed.
“It’s the same house whose meter is being bypassed every time,” said van Staden.
This happened on the corner of Robben Road and Tunny Street, at around 11.40am on February 19.
Apparently, the door and locks of the meter box were repaired in November, last year, in an attempt to prevent culprits from making themselves guilty of this activity.
According to van Staden, this is a frequent occurrence, but no working solution has yet been found to overcome this crime.
The Ekurhuleni Metro has been approached for comment.
