Excited staff members and pupils moved to their brand-new facility in February last year.
According to the school principal, Lincoln van Ross, pupils and staff members settled in quickly and feel comfortable and happy.
“It is a most conducive environment for both learning and teaching, and we are all proud to be here.
“We have asked our learners to respect the property and to look after it. After all, it belongs to them and the future generations.
“The facility has instilled a sense of pride and confidence in our learners, and we have noticed positive behaviour among our students,” said Van Ross.
The school is, however, not 100 percent completed.
Yikusasa Building Contractors is expected to wrap up the construction of six more classrooms and the consumer studies building by the end of the first term.
Once construction has been completed, the school will then be officially opened by the Gauteng Department of Education.
The new facility is located just a few metres away from the dilapidated double-storey modular school building on Goedehoop Street, Reiger Park.
It is equipped with more than 42 smart classrooms.
The structure also includes ablution blocks, a laboratory and an admin centre, among others.
The old structure was demolished and the land will be used as a playground for pupils. -@FanieFLK
