DA donates books to Villa Liza Primary School

The DA Ward 45 branch recently donated books to Villa Liza Primary and Villa Liza High School.

The books for Villa Liza High School deal mainly with mathematics, science, biology, life orientation, consumer science and English.

“These are the subjects that need more attention, as these subjects can aid the success of the students,” said Ward 45 councillor Tiziana Burtone.

“This is important considering in the metro we have a shortage of engineers and skilled professionals which utilise these skills.

“These books can assist students with additional practise questions and understanding of the subjects, to aid in their studies.”

The books for Villa Liza Primary School deal with basic mathematics, English and science, in order to help boost early development.

This will encourage the concept of mini libraries in each classroom, as the school does not have a library.

“Foundation education is very important, but trying to make learning fun by having additional material could improve the success of a student,” said Burtone.

“Regardless of where a school is situated, they should have access to books, so that the youth can learn and have better opportunities to succeed.

“Better and improved education also fits into the jobs campaign, as it gives the youth a better foundation when joining the working class and giving the youth an opportunity to read.”
