Help offered to family devastated by fire

A Boksburg-based clothing store, Civic Outfitters, donated school uniforms to three Reiger Park children who lost all their belongings in a fire.

According to Ward 34’s Clr Charlie Crawford, the single-parent headed Denett family lost everything when the family’s one-room house was set alight.

The fire damaged the room and destroyed its contents, which included clothes, furniture, books, food, personal documents and other items.

The suspect was arrested and charged with arson.

Crawford said he was deeply moved by the plight of the family.

After witnessing the impact the fire has had on the children, he decided to direct his efforts towards helping the family to replace some of what was lost, including the school uniforms of the children.

“I approached Civic Outfitters to solicit their assistance and the owner agreed to lend a helping hand and donated the uniforms.

“The children were thrilled to receive their brand new school uniforms. I’m now busy helping the family to replace the other items lost in the fire,” said Crawford. -@FanieFLK
