The accident, which resulted in the taxi bursting into flames, occurred just after 5pm.
EMER-G-MED said it responded to reports of a serious collision on Rondebult Road.
“On arrival paramedics found that the driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, had been pulled out of the burning taxi by tow truck operators.
“Unfortunately the he had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene,” reported EMER-G-MED on its Facebook page.
EMER-G-MED stated the events leading up to the collision are unknown, but it alleged that the taxi lost control and collided with a street pole before bursting into flames.
Local authorities were on-scene to investigate the events leading up to the collision.
