The man was shot in the back of his head in what police believe was a robbery.
“He was killed while on his way home from a nearby supermarket, where he had bought some groceries,” said Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese.
According to Ngobese, officers responded to a report that a person had been shot at about 5pm on Saturday.
The victim’s name has not yet been released, and no arrests have been made so far.
Investigators are asking anyone who has information to please contact them.
