EMPD arrests alleged murderer in connection with October house robbery

The EMPD Community Liaison Unit members recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested one suspect in Vosloorus on November 10 in connection with a house robbery that took place in October.

The initial crime occurred in Lenasia, Johannesburg, during which a house was robbed and one person was shot dead. A Toyota Corolla sedan was also stolen.

“On Tuesday, the EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) members raided a house on Roets Drive in Vosloorus after receiving a tip of on a suspicious silver Toyota Corolla seen parked in the yard,” said EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago.

Kgasago said the Corolla was found with false number plates which don’t exist on the NaTis system.

“An elderly woman who identified herself as the owner of the house said that the vehicle belonged to a tenant who was in prison and said the vehicle was parked at her place by the tenant’s friend who stays in Vosloorus Ext. 25,” said Kgasago.

Officers then proceeded to the address where a 31-year-old man was then arrested and taken to police custody.

Kgasago said it is believed that the man was involved in the crime that took place in Lenasia.

He was later handed over to Lenasia SAPS members.
