CRIME STATS: 49 people are killed everyday in SA, house robbery rises
The latest national crime statistics reveal that 49 people are killed daily in South Africa.

Murder has risen by 4.6 per cent, meaning 17805 people were killed in the last financial year, whereas house robbery and business robbery have increased by 5.2 per cent and 3.2 percent respectively.
Police Minister Nathi Nhleko and National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega are both at the Parliamentary portfolio committee meeting where the statistics are being announced today.
Most people are killed in KZN with the figure rising by 5.4 per cent, contributing 21.4 per cent of the 17805 murders.
Gauteng, however, had the biggest increase in murders in the 2014/2015 crime statistics.
Other crimes on the increase are attempted murder by 3.2 per cent; aggravated robbery by 8.5 per cent; common robbery by 2.7 per cent and truck hijacking 29.1 per cent.
