Suspect arrested for ‘execution-style’ killing; officers salute community

Boksburg police have applauded members of the public whose information has led to the arrest of a Zimbabwean man wanted for the fatal shootings that happened in the Angelo informal settlement, last year.

Acting on information, officers managed to apprehend the suspect on September 19, in Angelo.

He is now facing a murder charge in regard to the ”execution-style shooting” of a man he allegedly shot 11 times outside a tavern, on October 29.

Detectives are investigating to see whether the suspect could be linked to other unsolved murders, including the murder of a man who died outside his home in the informal settlement, after he was shot four times on October 31.

The suspect appeared in court on September 21, and the matter was postponed to September 28.

The suspect was remanded in custody.

His criminal history includes arrest for housebreaking.

Police have also established that the suspect has been staying in different areas in Gauteng, while also using different names, to evade arrest.

The Advertiser previously reported that a third person, also a man, died after he was shot seven times while asleep in his shack, on October 29.

He was with his girlfriend, who was also hit by two bullets in her thighs.

No arrests have been made in connection with the killing, and police are still looking for suspects identified as Lesotho nationals, one of them known as Ramaru, in connection with the killing.

Residents who have information that may lead to the arrests of the suspects are asked to call the investigating officer, Det-Sgt Calvin Mphaphuli, on 071 422 7417 or 011 841 6858. – @FanieBoksburg
