According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, this was apparently due to the intensified police visibility in the identified crime hot spots.
Police responded to two serious incidents in the precinct. These included a house robbery and car theft.
An armed gang of thugs broke into a house on Lynn Road, Freeway Park, and stole goods worth R9 000 on Sunday evening, September 20.
The intruders threatened the house occupants with a firearm before making off with a TV set as well as the car and the house keys.
The crooks are still at large.
In another story, a woman was forced to run for her life after she caught thieves stealing her car worth R1000 000 from Wassenaar Street, Parkrand on September 18.
The complainant told the police that she parked her Toyota sedan on the side of the street and went into a nearby property.
She then came back a few minutes later, to find two men trying to start her car. One man got out of the car and scared her into fleeing, leaving her car behind.
The thieves managed to steal the vehicle.
