One killed in crash on Rondebult Road
One person died and two were critically injured in a horrific crash at the intersection of Rondebult and Middle roads this morning (Wednesday, September 9).
Two vehicles were involved in the collision which occurred at a traffic light, on the eastbound carriageway of Rondebult Road.
According to information received, the impact of the crash sent both vehicles spinning out of control.
The taxi apparently rolled at least twice and skidded down the street before landing about 30 metres away, blocking the eastbound lanes.
The Toyota Yaris came to a rest next to the shoulder of the eastbound lane, about 40 metres away.
The passenger in the Yaris, a man, died during the collision.
Both drivers were seriously injured and they were pulled from the vehicles by Ekurhuleni Emergency Services (EMS).
Traffic was turned away and the road was closed for several hours as EMPD officers inspected the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
