According to Santi Steinmann, media liaison officer Netcare 911, 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a scooter and heavy goods vehicle were involved in a partial head-on collision.
“Upon assessment of the 19-year-old man, paramedics found that he had sustained serious to critical injuries during the collision,” said Steinmann.
“The injured man was treated at the scene and transported to hospital for the urgent medical care and treatment that he required, under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.
“The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was not injured during the accident.”
