Floating bulkhead dislodges in East Rand Mall
The Advertiser has learned the roof above one of the courts at the East Rand Mall collapsed today (August 3).
The incident apparently happened at around 11am.
The mall is currently undergoing extensive redevelopment plans, which will enlarge the mall by a further 7 350m2.
According to Petra Foord, general manager at the mall, a part of the new floating bulkhead dislodged during the current refurbishment.
“No damages or injuries have been incurred or have been reported,” said Foord.
“Structural engineers are currently on site to access the incident. The safety of our shoppers is of paramount important to us and thus a full investigation will be conducted.”
