Security guards held at gunpoint; valuable goods stolen

A gang of robbers held security guards at gunpoint and stole more than R40 000 worth of goods from a company located at the corner of Van Dyk and Brakpan roads.

The security guards told police that at about 10.30pm on July 18, three armed men confronted them at gunpoint.

The thugs then locked the guards in a changing room, before stealing goods, including hair products. No arrests have been made so far.

* Also on the same day, thugs forced their way into a house on Van Der Post Avenue, Parkrand, and stole R30 000 worth of goods, including a TV set, two laptops and jewellery.

* Meanwhile in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, armed robbers held Angelo Hotel staff at gunpoint, before stealing cash, alcohol and cigarettes.

* In another story, a man’s body was found with multiple stab wounds on his face, in Angelo informal settlement.

It is believed that he was stabbed with a screwdriver.

Police have not yet released the identity of the man and have not yet determined the motive for the apparent stabbing.

No arrests have been made so far.
