Victim of commuter train horror identified

Boksburg police have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a train on Saturday (July 4).

The deceased is 55-year-old Laurens Badenhorst van Wyk, the man police have been looking for after his family reported him missing on July 5.

Van Wyk disappeared on July 3.

Van Wyk of Parkdene was identified by his family, accompanied by the police, at the Germiston state mortuary on Tuesday, July 7.

Officers were called to the railway line next to the Trichardts railway bridge on Saturday, after the man’s body parts were found lying scattered across the railway tracks.
