Donation of teddies brings joy to Little Eden

Local residents Dorothy and Hannes Mathee recently visited Little Eden, to donate 300 teddy bears and soft toys for the children.

After reading an article about Little Eden, an organisation which cares for disabled adults and children, Dorothy decided to request donations from her church, friends and family.

Her collection drive lasted about three months.

“It’s a great privilege to be here today,” she said during her visit to the home.

”When I called Little Eden, I was told the children would love some soft toys.

“Collecting 300 teddy bears was no easy task, but I knew I had to try.”

Trudie Jordaan attends the same church as Dorothy and explained that she, too, has a giving heart.

“Dorothy is an angel and she has rubbed off on me; she inspires me to help those in need,” she said.

Dorothy enjoyed a walk-about of Little Eden’s facilities and also met with the society’s public relations officer, Nicollette Muthige.

“We are so grateful for the donation; the children will be extremely happy,” said Muthige.

Dorothy and her husband are constantly busy with charity work.

“We always cook large amounts of food for the needy and collect clothing on a weekly basis,” she said.

”We then drive to different areas and hand out the items to unemployed and homeless individuals.”

Anyone who wishes to make a donation should contact Little Eden on 011 609-7246, or email to info@littleeden.org.za.
