EMPD confiscates illicit cigarettes from local supermarket
A total of 320 packets of illicit cigarettes valued at approximately R6000 were seized on Saturday (July 4) afternoon from a supermarket in Boksburg.
The EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention Unit members seized the illicit cigarettes and the arrested a Pakistani supermarket owner at around 3pm.
“The raid of the supermarket was conducted following a tip off received from a reliable source,” said EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago.
Kgasago said the 34-year-old business owner was arrested and charged at Boksburg Police Station on possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes.
