Fund-raiser to be held for gout sufferer
A special fund-raiser will be held for Norman Raley, at Silverado Pub and Grill, from 2pm on June 27.

Proceeds of the event will go towards helping Raley with his medical expenses and any other costs involved in his well-being in the future.
In 1987, Raley, from Boksburg, was diagnosed with a case of aggressive gout for the first time.
Since then, he has undergone 29 intensive operations, including to the elbows, knee, fingers, shoulders, ankles and toes.
Just about every joint in his body has been affected by this, making it difficult for him to work and get around.
In 2012, he had to have one of his toes amputated due to the aggressiveness of this disease.
Last year, because of the excessive swelling of his joints, his knee burst open and he was hospitalised for weeks, so that it could be reconstructed, in order for him to walk with crutches.
The swelling in the joints has been so excessive that his doctor has suggested that he undergo a knee replacement to alleviate his joint problem.
He has recently been for an operation to prepare his knee for the procedure and he is currently at home, recovering from this procedure, with the intention of having the knee replacement done as soon as possible.
An independent account has, in the meantime, been set up, controlled by two sponsors, to help manage the funds for medication and all treatments.
